Monthly Us&Downs: JULY 2012

July 31, 2012 § Leave a comment

Hello!!!

I can happily announce I’m officially on summer break! YAY!
I’m done with school until September, so stay tuned for new entries! πŸ˜‰

Here are my July 2012 Ups and Downs!

Ups-Ups-Ups:
β™₯ Urban Decay 24/7 Concealer Pencil (in CIA). Amazing coverage for little pimples scars and red spots. I use it, of course, also as a under-eye concealer and it really does his work! The only “not-so-great” thing about it is the colour matching: my skin has a pink undertone and this concealer is a little bit too yellow-y for me and a little bit too dark too (yeah, you should know I am one of the palest people ever on this world, I guess). Anyway, it does bled so good it still works great on my skin! πŸ˜‰ It’s a bit pricey, but there’s also a lot of product. One thing I would change is the fact that you need to sharpen it and, as a result, there’s a waste of product. I’ll definitely re-purchase it because it’s the only (I think) concealer that actually suits me the best!
β™₯ NYC Smooth Skin Pressed Face Powder (in 702A, Naturally Beige). When the drugstore near my place start selling this brand I was the happiest girl on the planet. First off, it’s perfect for my colour skin. Well, maybe it’s a tad too dark, but since it’s a powder it doesn’t show off too dark! I use it to set the concealer or to conceal my under-eye zone and especially to even out my lids! Plus, it really is “smooth” as the name says! Cheap, nice colour, great package (who doesn’t like a mirror next to a powder?), it’s definitely a favourite!
β™₯ Essence Kajal Pencil (in 04 White). I’ve been looking for a white kajal for a long time. I’ve been using The Jumbo Eye Pencil by NYX in Milk, but I always found it too white and not easy to work with it in the waterline beacuse of the big pencil. So, I’ve picked up this one by Essence and I didn’t regret it! What I really like about it is that it’s very buildable and so I can just pass it lightly on the waterline and have a whit-y-pink-ish colour that brights up the eyes or build it up for a really white waterline. It doesn’t stay as long as the Jumbo Pencil, if I’m correct, but I’ll definitely buy it again. Plus, you can use it in the teardoct or as a highlighter on your brow bone. It works amazingly.
β™₯ Cherry Culture Lip Balm (in Bubble Gum). I bought some stuff from their awesome website about a year ago and they added this lip balm as a gift. I haven’t run out of it yet because I’m really careful not wasting it! πŸ˜„ It’s an awesome lipstick base (you don’t need to apply too much of it though!) and the lips are really soft after it’s gone away. I can also say it lasts more than any other lip balm I ever tried. And..the smell. I could sniff it forever!
β™₯ Lush Lip Balm (Lip Service). I think it was the very first item I bought at Lush. It’s a good home-usage lip balm. I generally apply it when I have really chapped lips or before going to bed and it deeply softens them. The bad thing about it is that after it’s almost gone there are some little pieces where it has dried, not good. That’s why I use it only at home or during sleep!
β™₯ L’OrΓ©al Paris Caresse Lipstick (in 06, Aphrodite Scarlet). My dear God, I’m in love with this lipstick. Its formula, the colour, the payoff, how much (more than 5 hours without eating/drinking) it lasts on. There are lots of cute colours, you definitely need to check it out if you like sheer lipsticks that still leave a nice colour on the lips.
β™₯ Kiko Super Colour Lipgloss – Active Colours Limited Edition (in 03, Coral Hibiscus). I found myself using this balm just when I’m on a rush but I still want to have a little bit of colour on my lips. It has a glossy finishing and I’m in love with the colour. It doesn’t last more than 2/3 hours, though.
β™₯ e.l.f. Palette Limited Edition Blush (in ???). I received this palette as a free gift after online-shopping at the e.l.f. website, but I can’t find it anywhere online so I guess it’s discontinued. 😦 I haven’t used the whole palette except for the coral/peachy blush. It works perfectly on my skin tone and I love that it’s very pigmented and totally buildable. If you get to know how it’s called, let me know because I’m gonna buy that blush again!
β™₯ Lush Vegetal Vaseline (here in Italy it’s called Shpalman). It’s kind of a body butter to use on your dried parts: elbows, heels, knees and it works amazing. I’ve used it as a lip balm too and it’s better than the actual Lush Lip Balm. Really. Plus, I use it on my nose too when it’s a little bit dry/red and it helps a lot. Just a tip: use it before going to sleep because it’s extremely oily! πŸ˜‰
β™₯ Water. I never thought water could improve my skin and health like that. It’s been more than a month that I try to drink 1/2 liters of water everyday. It makes you feel better. Down side? I have to go to the bathroom one time every hour. πŸ˜„
β™₯ Summer fruit. I can’t express how much I love summer fruit. Peaches, cherries, plums, watermelon, coconut. I wouldn’t eat anything else during the hot season! (except for ice-creams :P)

Downs-Downs-Downs:
β™₯ Exams πŸ˜›
β™₯ Heat. Like really, when is Fall coming???
(I really can’t think of anything else beauty-related! I guess staying at home didn’t let me discover bad products! :P)

& that’s a wrap.

Stay beautiful. ❀

Season trend: ombre hair!

July 26, 2012 § Leave a comment

Hello, deary readers! ❀

I was thinking about writing a post here and thousands of nice ideas started to pop in my mind.
I thought going for the one that inspired me the most, the Ombre-Hair Trend.

The “ombre-hair” term stands mostly for “hair gradually lighter” towards the tips. A trend that has been seen also reversed with hair gradually darker on the tips or coloured up having fun with pops of colours on the end of the hair.

If you want to go just as the trend suggest, it’s necessary that your hair is healthy and ready to get the shock of bleaching/dying. It’s also true that if your hair gets too much damage you can always chop off the ends and you’re done.
And here comes one other thing that can make the ombre trend work well: your hair must be longer than shoulder-lenght. Obviously it’s not necessary, but with long hair this trends works better, plus, as I was saying before, if you’re not satisfied with how the dying turned out you can still short your hair cutting the lenghts.

Coming to your hair colour.
– If you’re a lucky really light blonde head this trend will work if you want to do the “reversed ombre” technique, which means darken your tips or, the most fun of all, the coloured ombre hair. Pick a colour you like, pink, blue, green and colour the tips! I find the prettiest looks are those which have more than just a harsh colour on the tips but those which gradually change colours. For example: from blonde you can go to a nice orange colour and then end with a really bright red! Awesome, right?
– If your hair is blonde/light brown you can go for every ombre technique you like. Colour, lighter or darker hair! You can go crazy! πŸ˜‰
– If you are instead a brunette, you’ll probalby need to bleach to a very fair blonde before dying, otherwise the colour of your choice won’t show up at all.
– If you are the luckiest (in my opinion), a red head, this trend might be a little bit tricky. To be honest, I’ve seen thousands of pictures of girls (even guys love it!) with blonde or brunette hair, so I don’t have many suggestions for you. :/ But don’t give up. Maybe you can go easily for a ombre hair of lighter red on the tips or an orange-to-blonde! Possible colours don’t come up to my mind, though. :/

Since ombre-ing your hair requires generally permanent dye and stress for your hair, you might think you’ll never be able to go for it, if you don’t feel confident to permanent colour your hair.
Well, you can be wrong.
It’s been weeks that hair-companies are advertising coloured hair-mascaras and hair-shadows! You can simply try the trend for a day and see how it goes. Then, with just a simple wash your hair will come back as before!
It can definitely be a way to try if you like yourself with coloured tips and then maybe decides to go for the actual dye! πŸ˜‰

Another fun way is to use coloured chalk. Yes, you’ve heard right! Simply wet your hair and pass on it the chalk, then set everything you heat and a nice hairspray. It might not be healthy for your daily hair routine, but for a fun night out..why not?

Concerning the style of ombre hair, you can really show them off in all the ways! I find it works a little better with curly/wavy hair, but straight hair works well too! And why not try a fun coloured bun? πŸ™‚ Just be creative! Even a simple braid can completely change if done with ombre hair!

Coming to me, I’m really tempted by this awesome ombre hair trend. Too bad I still have short hair and I don’t feel like dying it for the first time when it’s still so short! :/

Talk to you in the next post!
Stay beautiful.

ps. A treat for you: why don’t try “ombre” in makeup too? Here’s a video on how to achieve this gradient look! πŸ˜‰

The first of many TAG entries

July 22, 2012 § Leave a comment

Hello, again!

This TAG is taken from YouTube videos. I thought it was nice to leave it here!
MAKEUP:
Blush or Bronzer I’m too pale to wear bronzer without noticing it, plus I’m not a big fan of bronzer in general, I’ll go with blush!
Lip gloss or Lipstick Depends mostly on how I am styling my hair: if it’s up, lipglosses are allowed, if not I’ll go with the lipsticks so my hair won’t stuck on my lips! πŸ˜›
Eye liner or Mascara Mascara, forever.
Foundation or Concealer Concealer, I don’t wear foundation anyway.
Neutral or Color eye shadows Depends on my mood, I love both for different reasons, but I’ll say Neutral since it’s the ones I wear the most.
Pressed or Loose eye shadows Definitely pressed.
Brushes or Sponges Brushes, I guess, but I’m not a brushes-freak!

NAILS:
OPI or China Glaze I tried none of them, here in Italy it’s pretty difficult finding those polishes. I might say OPI because of the colour range.
Long or Short I really like round long nails, but I never wear them, so..short it is!
Acrylic or Natural Natural, natural, natural!
Brights or Darks Brights for spring/summer and darks for fall/winter but a good pink or black are never wrong!
Flower or No flower Maybe no flowers, but sometimes (once or twice a year, aka when I have time) I draw something on the nails.

BODY:
Perfume or Body Splash Perfume!
Lotion or Body Butter Lotion, but if I’m extra dry I’ll go with the butter.
Body Wash or Soap Body Wash, definitely!
Lush or Other bath company I haven’t tried enough Lush products to say “it’s a ten”, but since now I’m pretty happy with it.

FASHION:
Jeans or Sweat Pants Jeans, all the way!
Long Sleeve of Short Long
Dresses or Skirts Both, but only during fall/winter
Stripes or Plaid Plaid
Flip flops or Sandals Sandals, I kind of hate flip-flops!
Scarves or Hats I like hats better, but scarves are easier to wear

HAIR:
Curly or Straight Curly, but in a Taylor Swift kind.

Hair spray or Gel Hair spray
Long or Short Long because my hair styles easily that way, but I really like bobs or male cuts too!
Light or Dark Light, but mine is a medium brown
Side sweep bangs or Full bangs Both, depends on your face shape. I don’t wear them, anyway, because they need too much styling and..I’m not that good! πŸ˜›

Summer or Winter Winter all the way!
Fall or Spring Fall, I guess
Chocolate or Vanilla I don’t even have to think about it, chocolate.

The beginning!

July 22, 2012 § Leave a comment

Hello pretty people! ❀

This is my very first post on this community and I really hope you guys will press the “follow” button as soon as you’ll stop reading everything, but first let me explain what I’m going to do with this blog. πŸ˜‰

It’s been since summer 2009 that I started watching YouTube videos by beauty gurus and reading beauty&fashion stuff on online blogs. What started out of curiosity became a real addiction and now I can’t help but visit everyday my YouTube subscribtions page and the awesome blogs, mostly of make up.

What I intend to do is write here my personal experience with products (skin, hair, makeup, etc.) and maybe try to review them. I plan to treat this blog as if it was my “BeautyJournal” and I’ll share with you the awesome stuff I can find online. Anyone can comment on any entry and I’ll try to update as much as possible.
It’s going to be a corner where exchange thoughts, tips and suggestions.
And for this, I’m gonna need your precious help! πŸ˜‰

I’m not gonna introduce myself more than what’s written on the Profile page because you’ll get to know me while blogging! πŸ˜‰ Just know that I really am a regular 23 years old girl who is was too much obsessed with movies, tv shows, tumblr and, of course, beauty&fashion stuff.
I, on the other hand, really want to meet you all. Post a comment saying “hi”!

As you can see from the Profile page I still haven’t completed the look&such of this blog yet. I hope I’ll be able to finish everything as soon as possible.

In the meantime, I wish you all a wonderful week and I promise I’ll be back soon (maybe even too soon :P) with updates.

Thanks for reading!

Stay beautiful.
