You Tube-r of the Moment: xteeener

April 29, 2013 § 5 Comments

Here’s Christine, xteeener on YouTube!

No, I’m not Asian, but she’s the only Asian beauty guru I can really relate to. There are tons of Eastern beauties on YouTube (Michelle Phan, just to name the biggest!), but I feel like her way of putting makeup on is the one I can really deeply appreciate. I don’t know how to explain it, though! πŸ˜›

Anyway, Christine is on YouTube since 2008 and it shows. She’s very experienced and knows how to cut the chace and get to the point in chatty videos.

Her makeup tutorials are medium-long, but she really explains step to step in the most accurate way. Most of her looks can be worn during day or night – she rarely goes too much crazy about makeup looks! Whenever I need a simple (but still great) everyday makeup look I search in her videos to have ideas. She has a casual/chic style, very similar to the way I dress often.

What I like the most about her is that she really cares for her subscribers, I don’t know how I can prove that, but she makes me feel welcome in every one of her videos.
I find her honest and trustworthy, plus she has a sunny personality that never hurts! πŸ˜‰ I feel like she’s one of those girls who really appreciate what life gives her and, thankfully, even if YouTube (I think) is her job she never takes it for granted. Her hauls show that she’s a very responsible person.

Check her videos out?

Stay beautiful.

Review: Rimmel Lipstick by Kate Moss #10

April 25, 2013 § 12 Comments

I reviewed some months ago the Rimmel Kate Moss lipstick in #22 just here, but I got the chance to try another shade too, so here are some swatches and opinions! πŸ™‚

rimmel kate moss 10

Color&Pigmentation. #10 is the reddest red ever, I’ll say. It’s cool tone based and has an almost-glossy finish. The Pigmentation is perfect, I found that you can just lightly press it on the lips and you have a nice color payoff. Awesome right?

Application. Very smooth and I would suggest to use a lip brush to apply it, just to avoid to smudge it on the edges. With such smooth formulas, I find it hard to apply the lipstick right from the tube, just because I won’t be precise enough and that’s something to avoid with these bright shades! The pictures show my application from the bullet and, as you can see, the edges are terrible! XΒ°D

lips kate moss 10

Longevity. More than 4 hours, but I did not eat during that time. I really should test if it passes the drink&eat test!

Packaging. Very classic and nice. Basic too, but I don’t judge just on the packaging!

Store&Price. I received this one as a sample thanks to an offer by Rimmel, but I believe these lipsticks are around 7-8€ at drugstores.

Overall 9/10. Yes, it’s a nine. I need to test it with foods before give it a ten! πŸ˜› Nothing else to say about this product. It’s simply a good deal! I wish I could try some more shades, but I can’t find them anywhere! 😦

& that’s it.

Stay beautiful.

NOTW + Review: Essie Nail Polish in Laquered Up (#62)

April 22, 2013 § 9 Comments

Here is my weekly mani, trying for the first time an Essie nail polish (Laquered Up, #62). It’s one of the two polishes that came in the box of July I bought for 50% off at MyBeautyBox. It’s in a limited edition that came out in Spring 2009, if the web speaks the truth. In the description of the box, there were three shades reds and three pastel colors, but in the box you would get one from the reds and one from the pastels, with no chance to pick them, though. So I couldn’t decide which one to choose and I let the fate work for me! πŸ˜› I was lucky with this red, but not so much with the pastel one because I got a lilac one (it’s called Lilacism, #37) and you know how that I don’t like purples in general. :/

Mani essie e kiko dots

As a fan of polka dots, I was really missing them so I opted for an accent mani with the black polish by Kiko. Doesn’t it remind you of a ladybug? haha! πŸ˜›

Color&Pigmentation. Definitely one of the brightest reds I’ve ever seen. Maybe even too bright at first sight. I got used to it wearing it on the nails, and honestly, I couldn’t help but fall in love with it. It’s definitely a warm toned red, with almost a hint of orange. It’s not the regular red, it definitely catches attention. The pigmentation is perfect, just one coat and it was already even and rightfully colored.

Application. I was overwhelmed. I never ever tried any other nail polish so easy to apply as this one. I don’t know if it’s its liquid formula or the brush. I don’t have a clue, but applying it felt relaxing.

Longevity. That’s where comes the disappointment. The pictures are taken on Wednesday morning and I did my nails last Saturday afternoon. can see that it’s starting to chip and it ended up not lasting enough through the entire week, which is always what I look for in a polish. I didn’t wash more my hands (than usual), so I really blame the polish for the chipping. Which terribly sucks, you know? For a medium expensive polish like this I would expect at least 4 to 5 days with no chipping at all.

Packaging. I love it!!! It’s chubby and so cute!

Store&Price. As I was saying before I got my polish in a box from MyBeautyBox, but it was in a limited edition so I don’t think you can still get it. Try Ebay, maybe? For what I know, Essie polishes are around 11-12€.

Overall: 8/10. It’s an 8 despite the fact that it chips easily. I still haven’t tried it with a good top coat, but I believe it will definitely last longer. I’m going to wear this nail polish quite often, especially during the hot seasons! How can you not love this super bright red?!

Have you tried any Essie polishes? How is the longevity for you?

Stay beautiful.

Review: Be Chic Liquid Blush

April 18, 2013 § 4 Comments

Be Chic is a new italian brand (not sold international, unfortunately) focused on makeup, skin care and jewels. I decided to talk about this Liquid Blush anyway. I know there are tons of similar alternatives and I really want your opinion about this kind of products.
I saw it for the first time at a local drugstore (Limoni) in September, if I’m not mistaken, and I decided to buy it in October because it was cheaper than the Benefit super raved tints and because I was in a “blush” phase. πŸ˜›

Color&Pigmentation. At the moment, there’s only one shade available, but I know that Be Chic is coming out soon with a limited edition with another color. This one is a red tone pink, the perfect natural blush color to my eyes to give a healthy look. The pigmentation is perfect, maybe it’s even too much pigmented!

Application. Here comes the troubles. I tried all the ways to apply it. Fingers, brushes, sponges, anything. And every single method would leave terrible uneven stains on my cheeks. I promise I tried to bled it as soon as I placed it, but this would solve nothing. It’s a product that really needs to be worked too much for my taste. And I still haven’t found a way to wear it properly!!! I fear of using it when I’m in a hurry because I’ll end up with uneven red cheeks with no time to wash it off. What’s worst is that I noticed the exact same thing when applied to the lips. No, it’s not mentioned that you can do it, but I know that most of cheek tints can be used as lip stains too. Well, it was uneven on my lips as well.
Trying to swatch it for you I noticed that the more product I used the more it would blend better. But, seriously, I can’t use that much product on my cheek, I would be insanely red-faced! :/

Longevity. I noticed that after you apply it, let’s say some seconds, it can easily be removed just with water. That’s a thing I’ve noticed because I usually apply it with my fingers: if I wash my hands right after it totally disappears, but if not, it will last a lot until you use proper makeup remover. Definitely a long-lasting blush.

Packaging. It seems like a little bottle of nail polish, like most of blush tints do. I noticed that the bottle is bigger than the actual amount of product in it, though. :/

Store&Price. I bought it at Limoni for 12.50€. Still pricey for a blush that I still haven’t figure out how to make it work. πŸ˜›

Overall: 6/10. If it blended nicely and easily, it would’ve been a 10. No doubt. I pass mark it just because I like the idea of a cheek tint and a long-lasting blush. And because the color is perfect.

Have you tried this product or any other cheek tint? Do you have any good tip for the application? I really don’t want to leave this cute little bottle in my makeup drawer without using it! 😦

Stay beautiful.

NOTD + Review (Maybelline ForeverStrong Nail Polish in #650 – Midnight Blue)

April 15, 2013 § 11 Comments

Hello and happy Monday, peeps!

Blue Nails 2

Here’s my weekly mani combined with a review on the Maybelline Forever Strong (+ Iron) Nail Polish in #650 – Midnight Blue. I used the glitter top coat polish by Kiko (#230) just on a half of my ring finger! πŸ˜‰

Color&Pigmentation. It’s a blue night color with lighter micro particles that show when light hits it. Never thought I could actually wear this polish, but I ended up liking it very much! Plus, it’s a nice way to paint your nails dark without using black or dark gray. The color payoff could be better, truth be told. I did just one coat, but I loaded the polish on the brush before applying it just because I was in a rush and I had no time to do two coats.

Application. I don’t remember finding any trouble with the application.

Longevity. Not bad, it lasted at least 4 days without chipping. (As usual, I didn’t use any top coat!)

Packaging. Simple and basic.

Blue Nails 1

Store&Price. I honestly can’t remember where or when I bought it. It must have been a lot of time ago. Anyway, I’m sure I didn’t pay it more than 5€.

Overall: 7/10. I have to admit that even if I like this color I rarely tend to wear it. I usually dress in black or gray toned clothes, so I always feel like that this blue (even if it that dark) doesn’t suit my outfits. :/ I should use it more often, anyway because the color itself is stunning.

Talk to you soon!

Stay beautiful.

Product crush: Bioderma Sensibio H2O Solution Micellaire (review)

April 11, 2013 § 5 Comments

Hello and welcome to my blog, again!

Today I want to talk to you about a recent (’s an almost-four-months) product crush: Bioderma Sensibio H2O Solution Micellaire.

I discovered it months ago in my local pharmacy next to the Cetaphil cleanser. I was shocked! I never thought to find these two brands here in Italy (not to mention in my small town), but there they were, all shiny and new. Truth be told, that day I had a discount and I was looking on the various shelves to find something interesting, and..I ended up finding these two! Of course I had to buy them! πŸ™‚
I’m still not using the Cetaphil cleanser because I have other opened cleansers (I’m using Burt’s Bees & Essence, right now), but I’ll let you know everything about it once I’ve tested it properly!

But now, let’s talk about Bioderma Sensibio H2O Solution Micellaire, which has the longest name ever, but I tend to call it just “Bioderma”.

As the name says, it’s a micellaire solution that works for various purposes. I use it only to remove my makeup, soaking two (or three, depending on how much makeup I have on) round large cotton pads, and gently rubbing them on my face. It does not require rinsing it off, but I generally wash my face anyway with my daily cleanser.
I know some people use it as a morning cleanser/toner too, but I don’t feel comfortable using it like that, just because I save the product for those “special” nights when I’m too lazy to take off my makeup and I need a push to do it! Using Bioderma makes removing makeup a pleasure more than a stress to me!

Why, you’ll wonder. Well, let me tell you that the smell isn’t one of my favorite, but the feeling of it..gosh, it’s so gentle! It’s extremely refreshing and you can really feel the skin breathe again after wearing makeup all day. Plus, it’s the only makeup remover that even after washing your face still can remove the slightest little leftovers.

The bottle I own is 120 ml, but I know there are bigger bottles of 500 ml. I paid it 13€, which is pricey for a makeup remover if compared to drugstores’ ones, but really, the product is worth every single cent! Trust me! I still haven’t found someone who used it and sai “meh, not bad, but I’m not crazy about it”.

I know it’s a tricky one to find in the States (easier to find in Europe for what I know), but online shopping can do miracles, as we all know!

Overall it’s definitely a 10/10. I love it and I fear the day I’ll run out of it! Then, I’ll just have to remind myself I can easily buy another one! πŸ˜›

Any thoughts on this product? Tips, suggestions, opinions? Let me know!

Stay beautiful.

Review: Deborah Milano Shine Tech Magnetic Nails #65

April 8, 2013 § 11 Comments

Here are my Nails Of The Week! I used the Deborah Milano Magnetic Polish in #65, the one I bought months ago and that I showed in this haul.

Magnetic Deborah Nail Polish 2

Color&Pigmentation. The pictures speak the truth: it’s a warm purple nail polish with a metallic finish. I decided to use the magnet only on one nail, just because it was the first time ever trying magnetic polishes! The pigmentation is super, I did only one coat!

Application. Very easy. I thought these kind of polishes were stickier and more difficult to apply. Well, I was wrong!!! Using the magnet was easy as well: 10-15 seconds and the magnetic effect is done! The only thing I still have to get used to is not to touch the nail while putting on it the magnet! πŸ˜› My hands are shaky that way. The magnet is a striped one so you can turn it around to have horizontal, vertical or diagonal designs! I’m planning got buy a spiral one soon! πŸ™‚

Longevity. Average, I’ll say. These pictures were taken about three days after and I some chipping was almost there to happen! Anyway, I felt confident in wearing it for six days because the polish wasn’t that much ruined.

Packaging. Except that I really hate the big cap, it’s basic and simple. The cap actually contains the magnet!

Magnetic Deborah Nail Polish

Store&Price. I bought it at our local italian drugstore (Acqua&Sapone) and I was lucky enough to get it for only 2€.

Overall: 9/10. I don’t know if it’s the color of the finish, but I’m loving this nail polish to death! I’ve always had a thing for metallic nails! πŸ™‚ Plus, I really love how the magnet effect turned out! Can’t wait to try some more colors! I have to admit, though, that metallic polishes have always shade more suitable for the colder least, that’s what I noticed! 😦

Have you ever tried magnetic nails? What about them?

Stay beautiful.

NOTW: French classic manicure

April 3, 2013 § 10 Comments

Here are my nails of the week.

DSC00913I wore this manicure during my last exam week because I wanted to stay neutral, but feel happy looking at my nails even with no color! I used a white Essence nail-art polish and a Bottega Verde baby pink one after drawing the white tips with stencils very similar to these ones.

I don’t usually wear french manicure because I always cut my nails short (to play guitar), but during exams I tend to have less free time to play and so..I can grow them a little bit longer. Anyway, I’m a big fan of medium length nails and french manicures!!! I’ve been planning on trying the inverse one or the colored one for years!!!

& that’s it for today!

Stay beautiful.
