Review: NYX Blush in Angel

February 26, 2014 § 5 Comments

Hello, hello!

Here’s the review of the NYX powder blush in Angel. I have been hearing about this blush for years and I am so glad that I bought it last August. It truly is the perfect blush for every kind of look and season.

NYX blush 1

Color&Pigmentation. Angel is a cool toned dust-y pink that works with most of skin tones, especially the lightest ones. It almost has a hint of brown that is not exactly noticeable, but that makes this blush a super natural one. It looks more pink when swatched then when you look at it in the pan. That’s why as soon as I got it I thought I was never going to use it. Then, I swatched it and applied it and..fell in love! The pigmentation is very impressive. I always end up with too much blush on my face because I forget how incredibly pigmented this product is.

Application. It blends extremely well, especially if you are not wearing any cream product underneath. I generally don’t use a specific brush or technique to apply it. I feel it works great applied on the apple of the cheeks for a more youthful look or blended towards the hollows of the cheeks for a slightly more sophisticated look. As I was saying before, go with a light hand because it’s super pigmented.

NYX blush 2

Longevity. I usually don’t have any problem with the longevity of cheek products and this one stays put from the morning until the night (granted that you don’t touch your face too much).

Packaging. It’s very simple, but I love how essential it is. I would have hated a bigger packaging, that is for sure. I don’t even mind not having a brush or a mirror because, in this way, the product is small enough to feel comfortable in bring it around for possible touch-ups. And it closes pretty well too.

Store&Price. I bought my blush at for less than 5€, but I know that NYX products can change very easily prices depending on where you are getting them. On the whole, it’s a pretty cheap blush, though.

Overall 10/10. Definitely one of my favorite blushes of all time. I like the blendable texture, the incredible pigmentation and the essential packaging. And, of course, I love the color. I would highly recommend this one if you are looking for an all-year-and-all-makeup-looks-around blush. I always say: “When in doubt, go for Angel by NYX“. 😉

Do you have this blush in your collection? What other blush shades do you have by NYX? I definitely want more since I was so impressed with this one!

Stay beautiful.

YouTuber of the Moment: PrettyAndPrimped

Here’s my favorite YouTuber of the Moment! It’s the gorgeous Kialy (love her name!!!) from PrettyAndPrimped.

Picture taken from her Instagram. (

I think I subscribed to her eight or six months ago and I’ve never missed one of her videos.

She does a lot of nice, clear and simple tutorials. And she’s very good at it. But the videos of her that I like the most are the chatty ones. Her favorites, her reviews, her first impressions, her demos. And her 2013 Best of Beauty videos were awesome and super helpful.
For being so young (she’s turning 18 in some months), she really knows how to give information and she surely knows how to put on makeup.

She has a great and sunny personality (other than being stunning on the outside). And she talks fast, which does not mean that her videos are redundant or boring. She talks fast because she has a lot of things to say. Informative things, I would say!!!
I even like her more after I discovered that she likes to read. And, honestly, I trust people who read (funny, uh?!). Especially if the books are real masterpieces (she mentioned Hemingway as her favorite writer).

I wish I could get to know her more because I feel like she’s a nice girl to get to know, but I also respect her privacy and very appreciate the fact that she doesn’t blend too much in the whole You Tube gurus community doing and editing videos on that every girl on the web does. I feel like her videos are informative, helpful and very on point. I could not ask for more!!!

She recently got a surgery and I’m glad she says she’s recovery very well from it. She still is uploading videos weekly and I couldn’t be happier!

To sum up, I like her a lot and her videos are worth watching, from the beginning to the end! I suggest you stopping by on her channel and just watch something you might like! She definitely deserves more and more views/subscribers!

She’s one to keep an eye on!

Stay beautiful.

My Top 5: Romantic Movies

February 14, 2014 § Leave a comment

Hello, sweeties!

We all know that today it’s the most romantic day of the year. I decided to start this series called “My Top 5“, and today I will select my favorite 5 romantic movies, just to be on topic for Valentine’s Day! 😉

I suggest watching these movies either if you are in a relationship or not. They simply are precious to me and some of them are really masterpieces!

moulin-rouge_resizeMoulin Rouge (2001): my all time favorite movie. This film kind of changed my life. The movie is set in Paris (1899) in the Moulin Rouge (really?!) and it follows the (dramatic) love story between the star of the show and a writer. I have to mention that it is a musical (no original music in it since it features cover of famous songs), but it is not sung from the beginning to the end. It has a wonderful soundtrack that I listen to over and over again. Nicole Kidman (my favorite actress) is in the best shape for this role: I’ve never seen her so into a character like this movie and she really shows every existing feelings. She flawlessly sings, dances and fascinates the audience with wit and grace (she touched my heart with her Satine – guess why I decided to use satine89 as username! ;)). Ewan McGregor is another favorite actor of mine. He truly is a talent. I would suggest this movie it you are ready to cry. A lot.

Gone_resizeGone with the Wind (1939): a masterpiece everybody should watch, at least once in the lifetime. I wouldn’t define this movie entirely “romantic” because it mixes history as well. And that’s also the beauty of it. Set during the American Civil War, it’s the story of Rossella O’Hara who struggles during the war to find love and a place to call home. Rossella O’Hara is one of the best and inspiring female characters in the whole movie history, in my opinion. Her tumultuous love story with Rhett Butler, to me, puts relationships in a different perspective. A movie I suggest to everybody: take your time (it’s four hours long) and enjoy this incredible work of art.

valentinesdaycover_resizeValentine’s Day (2010): a romantic comedy in full spirit of Valentine’s Day. The story is set in LA, on Valentine’s Day, and it follows the lives of a great variety of characters. A teacher, a florist, a teenager, a military woman, two grandparents, etc. I often watch this movie the day before Valentine’s Day because it really is inspiring and it boosts confidence in the human kind and in the feeling of love. Plus, a stellar cast stars in this film. A movie I would suggest if you want to smile and spend a pleasant time, alone or with company.

Memoirs_resizeMemoirs of a Geisha (2005): an incredibly well-made movie. If you love costumes, sceneries and colors, this movie is for you. The movie is set in Japan, 1929, and it tells the breathtaking love story between a simple girl (who will become a geisha) and the leader of a great factory. Once again, it is a movie with a great and strong female character. I would suggest this movie if you have time and patience (the movie can be a little bit slow, but it is worth watching until the end), and if you want to be inspired by a unforgettable love (and life) story.

restless_resizeRestless (2011): a (sad) romantic movie that treats tragedy with a light hand. It’s the story of two teenagers that inevitably fall in love, but these words are just too simple to describe this movie. I cannot tell you more, otherwise I will ruin the story for you. Mia Wasikowska is pure perfection in this movie. I would suggest to watch this movie if you are ready for a little drama, but have an open mind to fantasy as well.

10thingsIHateAboutYou_resize❤ Honorable Mention (yes I cheated): 10 things I hate about you (1999): a film that you need to watch because I think it’s the perfect romantic not-completely chick-flick movie. I watched recently (too late, I would say), and I found it incredible. It’s the simple story of a solitary girl with great ambitions and low expectations from the human kind and the good gold-hearted guy in disguise under bad manners and attitude. Julia Stiles surprised me with her on-point acting and Heath Ledger’s wit makes me miss him even more. A cute and sweet movie I would suggest to watch to everybody. I think it’s one of the best teenager romantic comedy ever made.

These are My Top 5 Romantic Movies. Please, share yours! I’m always looking for good recommendations on romantic films!

I wish you a very happy Valentine’s Day, whether you are staying at home eating your love-problems out and crying over movies (the best day of the year to do so) or you are going out with your partner, having a wonderful day.

Stay beautiful.

Review: Maybelline Color Tattoo in On and on Bronze

February 11, 2014 § 4 Comments

Greetings, Internet!

Today I will review the cream eyeshadow Maybelline Color Tattoo in the color On and on Bronze (in the UK) or Bad to the Bronze (if you live in the US), a super raved product on the web. I love cream eyeshadows and since essiebutton always wears this one and talks gold of it, I had to get it! 😉

Color Tatoo 4

Color&Pigmentation. The name could not describe the eyeshadow better. The base of the eyeshadow is bronze, of course, but when hit by the light it has a gold-ish, almost dark champaign color. The finish is quite metallic and overall shimmery, but no chunky glitter at all. I like the fact that it changes with the light because you can easily wear it on its own and it seems that you put a lot of effort, using different shadows on your lids and crease. The texture is creamy and I find it’s even better than the other Maybelline Color Tatoo products I tested. The pigmentation is great and it gives you the opportunity of shearing it out or building it up to full coverage. You can really get on your eyes the color of the eyeshadow in the pot.

Application. As I was saying, the texture is very creamy, and, thank to this, it’s very easy to apply the eyeshadow. It’s one of the best cream eyeshadows I’ve ever used! It really does go smooth and it blends super easily. I find that it applies better with fingers than with brushes simply because the warmth of the fingers works better with the texture. I usually load the product on my ring finger, really working it in the pot and then I either apply it directly on my eyes (if I want more coverage) or dab it on the back of my hands and then blending it on the lids.

Color Tattoo 5

Longevity. Granted that I don’t have oily lids, this eyeshadow stays all day long on my eyes without fading or creasing (unbelievable, I know). I don’t even have to use an eye primer because it’s perfect on its own. After you apply it, it sets and it does not go anywhere. That’s why I would suggest to blend the color as soon as you apply, otherwise it would be impossible to move it! The only thing I noticed is in its finish: it seems that it loses a little bit the shine, but nothing too noticeable.

Packaging. Quite bulky and heavy. But I like it anyway. It’s a nice (maybe too large) pot to store even outside your drawers.

Store&Price. I got mine on because it was on sale for 5.61€, but it generally costs between 6-10€.

Overall 10-/10. I love it. I got it less than a month ago and I’ve been using it so frequently I’m afraid I will run out of it! Definitely a holy grail product for me! If you like cream eyeshadow and you don’t like to spend too much time in front of the mirror, but you still like to look put together, I would suggest this product, hands down! The only thing I would change is the color: I love it, but since I am so pale, I would go for half a shade lighter!

What do you think about On and on Bronze?

Have you tried the Maybelline Color Tattoo? How do you like them? Here is the review on Pink Gold. I also own Permanent Taupe, but I still don’t understand why there’s no review on that on the blog! I need to make it up as soon as possible! 😉

Stay beautiful.

Review: Real Techniques Expert Face Brush

February 5, 2014 § 4 Comments

Hello, girls!

Today’s turn is the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush. I got this brush back in August (haul here) and have been using it non-stop. As you already know, Real Techniques is the brushes brand by Samantha Chapman, one of the Pixiwoo sisters. The Expert Face Brush is maybe the most famous of these brushes, and I now I understand why.

The brush: the bristles are very dense, but extremely soft at the same time. I like how bendable yet firm it can be – don’t know it you get me. It really gives the perfect flawless and airbrush finish without showing any kind of unesthetic strikes on your face.

real techniques

Clean the brush: concerning the cleansing side, at first I thought that the white tips were going to suck the product in and never come back to white. Well, I was wrong. The brush can be cleaned to its original status perfectly (as long as you avoid to leave there the foundation for more than two weeks). Generally, I use only the elf Daily Brush Cleanser but once every two/three weeks (depending on how much I used the brush) I fully clean it with a simple hand bio soap.

Use the brush: personally, I find it works amazing on liquid foundations and I always use this one whenever I don’t want to apply the base with my fingers. However, I am surprised on how versatile this brush can be. It works great to apply powder too, especially to set concealer under the eyes or around the mouth and nose (despite being quite large for those areas). And, incredibly, it works to apply brush (either cream or powder) too. I wish I could have another one so that I can use one to apply foundation and the other for the powder and the blush.

Overall 10/10: I really couldn’t love this brush more. No wonders why it was included in my “Best of 2013” products! It is definitely a must-have for all you brushes lovers. And even if you don’t like to use face brushes (neither did I before this one), I can promise that after trying this brush you will never want to use your fingers for the foundation! Moreover, for its price (I got mine between 8-9€ on, it’s an amazing tool. I could not recommend it more!

What other Real Techniques brushes would you suggest me to get? I definitely want more now that I am so in love with this one!

Stay beautiful.
