Let me tell you about the day I met @essiebutton

March 5, 2014 § 12 Comments

Hello, hello!

Today’s blog entry is a little bit different than what you are used to, but it was such a nice experience that I really want to share it with you all! The following GIF says it all.

Don’t worry. I am not going to tell you ALL of my feels. LOL

I discovered by chance that Estée (essiebutton on YouTube, Twitter, Instagram and Facebook) was coming with her boyfriend Aslan in Rome for some days, and that she was actually doing a meet-up with her subscribers. WHAAAAAT?!. I couldn’t be happier.

You all know I am obsessed with her (remember my blog post entirely about her???) and I really couldn’t miss the chance of meeting her. I am in the middle of crazy busy days due to my thesis, PhD offers (need to update you on that too!!!) and new home furniture to buy, but I managed to find the time and have Tuesday afternoon off.

I went to Rome by bus (it’s about two hours from here) and met with my lovely friend Irene (Twitter, Tumblr, Instagram). It was so great to see and hug her again! As Captain Swan shippers, we just click, you know?! 😉
Together we went to Piazza del Popolo, but unfortunately the bus was late and we arrived half an hour after the meeting. Thankfully, everyone was still there!!! We approached the small group slowly and, honestly, super-super-shy. I regret not even saying “hello” to the other girls and to Aslan who was talking with one or two girls. I really was petrified and Irene was too, haha!

Then, finally, I got the chance of saying “hi” to Estée and we took some pictures. Estée was so nice it was unbelievable. Imagine that after she knew that I came far from Rome she took a picture of me and her with her own phone! 😉 And – yes, there is an “and” – she even emailed it to me when I asked her! She truly is awesome.

Me and @essiebutton in Rome last Tuesday! What a lovely afternoon! I wish I just wasn’t that shy! :3 Thanks to Estée for being super kind!!! Such a sweet girl! Writing a post about the experience right now! Hopefully, it’ll go up on the blog in some days! ❤

I’ve always known she was stunning, but in real life she looks so perfect it’s incredible! And she was so nice with all of us! She also written down our Instagram or YouTube names so that she could check our profiles on the social networks.

Me hearing her talk. I had a smile printed on my face. My cheeks were starting to hurt!

I regret not talking to her more. Now that I look back, I wanted to ask her so many things (the lipstick she was wearing or how were they liking their Rome holiday) and small talk about random topics. I wanted to say that I really appreciate her videos and that she basically is my all time YouTube crush.
But..the following GIF says all, once again. I am so effing shy I hate it sometimes!!! 😥

I almost couldn’t look her in the eys when she was talking to me. I’m weird like that, yeah.

Finally, Estée and Aslan said goodbye (so sad to see them leave) and we watched them walking away hand in hand like this:

They were sooooo cute!!!

With a hole in our hearts, Irene and I decided to take a walk and do some “window” shopping (we promised not to buy a single thing! :P). She also walked me to a Laura Mercier stand (now I finally know where to find this brand!) and, most importantly, to the Ladureè patisserie.

Now, let me tell you about my feelings once again. I wanted to try macarons you don’t even know for how long!!! I got a box of six for my parents and one to eat right away with Irene. I got the Strawberry-Marshmallow one. Never tasted anything this divine. It’s so good it should be illegal!!! And all the other flavors I got (chocolate, hazelnut, pistachio and raspberry) were to die for. Now I know that when I am in Rome again I’m going to splurge on macarons instead of makeup, haha!

First time trying macaroons. Heaven!!! Thanks to miss @vioncina for walking me to Ladurèe in Rome!

On my way back to the bus station (let’s not say a word of me taking the wrong subway…), I even met a guy who took with me the TOEFL preparation course back in July. It was as random as pleasant! I was so happy to see him again and catching up with him!

& that is my Tuesday afternoon in a few (hopefully not boring) words. I really enjoyed every minute of it and I am so happy I managed to go. It was great to meet Irene again and we promised each other to spend some time together in April. I look forward to it! ❤

I will forever thank Estée (and Aslan) for being so kind, sweet and just amazing!

Stay beautiful.

The long-awaited update

January 29, 2014 § 5 Comments

Hello!

Long time, no entries, uh?! Sorry about that. I tried to keep up with your blogs anyway, but I guess I never found time to post accurate reviews on mine.

These weeks have been crazy. Holidays included.

I don’t know if you follow my Instagram or Twitter, but I have moved to another place and, honestly, moving changes your life. Well, kind of. 😛 Luckily, we did not have to rush the process, but we did not have enough time to do it slowly and regularly either. At the moment, we are still living in a house with no bathroom and bedroom furniture. Hopefully, we will use our old bathroom, but we still need to actually measure everything to see if it fits. Concerning my new bedroom, I have boxes over boxes over boxes and just the two old beds (one for me and one for my sister) who are about 20 years old. I am planning on going furniture shopping in February, problems aside. I will surely post picture when everything’s done and pretty. 😉 Right now, despite the mess and the missing closet/drawers/storage I am liking this new place. Which, actually, is not entirely new. Well..it is, but..Gosh. It’s complicated to explain. Let’s say it our old house that got rebuilt. There it is. Though it’s not that simple! 😛

Oh, and I have no decent internet connection so this really tests me! -.-‘ However, we should come have our old phone contract restored in any day, now.

Moving aside, I have been writing my thesis and stopped working on the research during the holidays, just to take the last exam left in my study plan. Thankfully, it went great and now I can focus on my thesis only. My defence is scheduled for March 26th and, honestly, I can’t wait to finish everything with uni stuff!

Another reason why I have been MIA during the last month is due to countless PhD applications (Germany, US, Australia and UK) I had to send from the end of November on and related exams. I may be done with everything (I still need to figure out if I get a supervisor at the London Imperial College and therefore understand if I can apply or not) and I *only* (haha, so easy! #sarcasm) have to wait for the universities to reply and let me know if I got in or not. I am praying day and night to God Luck to help me get in any of the institutions I applied. I really want to get a PhD abroad and move from Italy as soon as possible.

I still don’t have any plan B if my dream cannot be achieved, and…I don’t want to think about it. I come from super stressful weeks of applications, exams, thesis and I don’t have enough space in my brain to decide what I’ll do next if nothing goes right. We’ll see, we’ll see.

Oh, and..I bought an HD video camera. Just to put it our there. We’ll see how it goes! 😉

That is my update! Hopefully, these following weeks I will be able to come back and review products!

I will talk to you soon, dearies!
Stay beautiful.

A new NAKED palette??? — Urban Decay Naked 3 palette

November 14, 2013 § 11 Comments

Hello, girls!

After girls posting pictures of a new Urban Decay palette bought at a Sephora store in Paris and the web exploding at the news (first denied and then confirmed), Urban Decay is officially launching a new palette: the Naked 3.

Obviously, I am pretty sure everyone of you already knows of the Naked 1 and the Naked 2 palettes (and I as much as sure that you own them at least one of them). Personally, I have always had Naked 2 on my wish list: I’ve always been fascinated by the cool toned eyeshadows it offers, but never brave enough to go and spend 45€ on it. 😛

It’s incredible how Urban Decay can come out with great color combinations even after two big hits palettes! I like how they went for a pink/gold colors, but I’m not sure it will work as great as the other two palettes: pink toned shadows are not very easy to wear and they don’t suit every skin tone, I am afraid!

I’ll leave you to the video (or blog post of comparison between the palettes) of xsparkage and to her detailed review (blog post is here).

Temptalia too has a blog post on the palette and a comparison one too. Remember to sign on that awesome website and add me!!!

I’m quite interested in the new Naked 3 palette, but I guess I still prefer the Naked 2 because I feel like it’s more natural and “naked” as the name says.
How about you? Are you going to buy it?

Stay beautiful.

I am lucky, I know.

November 4, 2013 § 8 Comments

Happy Monday, all!!!

Ready to kick off November?! I kind of am. Though it’s going to be a tough month. Let’s keep fingers crossed.

It’s not been long that I posted my very first giveaway win, remember?! I still thank Nicolea in my mind every day, haha! 😉
And, well..you may hate me (please don’t), but I got lucky again. (Luck has been missing in all every other side of my life, though -.-‘) I won the giveaway for Tasha’s one year blog anniversary at bellezakisses.com. And..guess what I won? The Lorac PRO Palette. Yes, you’re read it right. The super raved and preached Lorac PRO palette. Honestly, I still can’t believe it.

Thank God for the little pretty things in life. @bellezakisses Tasha, we called it!!! It’s here!!! Thank you so much, you are such a sweetheart!!!

Thankfully, we did not have any kind of troubles for the package. Tasha has been so incredibly kind in accepting of sending it by mail to avoid our stupid italian customs. It took three weeks to get the parcel, but it was worth the wait. Last Monday I received everything is a sealed envelope with the sweetest Thank You card. ❤
Oh, and Tasha also added a lip balm by Jack Black, that I understand is quite appreciated on the web as well.

Can’t wait to try the goodies out and I promise I’ll get back to you with reviews!

I will never ever ever ever thank Tasha enough because, truly, she is the sweetest. A big hug, dear!!!
Obviously, go and check her blog out!!!

Stay beautiful.

Where have I been this week

September 29, 2013 § Leave a comment

Hello, girls!

Hope you’re having a wonderful Sunday. Me, after terrible hectic days, I decided to take a little break from studying and simply catch up with some YouTube videos and TV Shows (while applying to some job openings, too..:P). Tomorrow I’ll be back begging for some more minutes in an hour.

I am so incredibly sorry for not posting during last week. I hate the fact that my life is getting busier and busier and that I never have a spare hour to properly commit to this blog. At the same time, I can’t wait to see what my future holds. My plans are huge, but honestly, I don’t feel like writing a post all about them yet. I’m afraid I’ll jinx everything. I hope you’ll understand.

This week I’ve been super stressed out about the exam I had to take yesterday in Rome. Seriously, I have never been so destroyed by an exam like this one. My skin is feeling so bad right now: I’ve been breaking out like I’ve never did before. Plus, I feel weak, unmotivated and emotionally unstable. Yes, it’s a disaster. And I’m afraid it won’t get better until next Spring. *sighs*

However, the point of this post is not looking for sympathy, but just letting you know that, hopefully, I’ll be back on track starting next week. Just be patient with me during these weeks because if I told you all the things I have to accomplish you’d think I’m crazy. Cross my fingers for me, ladies!

Talk to you soon. Have a wonderful day!

Stay beautiful.

Bloglovin & Blog’s Anniversary!

September 8, 2013 § Leave a comment

Hello, dearies!
I hope you are having a wonderful weekend.

Yesterday I had the TOEFL test. It didn’t went great, sadly, but before talking I will wait for the results. (I’m keeping my fingers crossed, though!)
Today I had to do tons of planning for the next hectic weeks. Now, I’m about to shut Internet down so I can focus entirely on my thesis with no distractions (blame Tumblr and the tag #teenwolf – this addiction is killing me!). Tonight I’m invited to my sister’s to eat some pizza – I’m going there early so I can “help” her, and I quote because I’m a disaster in the kitchen! 😛

However, I wanted to let you know that after one year (WHAT?! it feels like yesterday that I started blogging) that this blog was moved here to WordPress I decided to join Bloglovin’!
I’m going to follow all of you as soon as I have some time! Leave down here your links, if you want to! 😀

You can follow Random Beauty Things at this link: follow my blog with Bloglovin’!
& that’s all! Have a great day, wherever you are!

Stay beautiful,

I’m a giveaway winner! W H A T ?!

September 5, 2013 § 9 Comments

Hello, girls!
Today’s entry will be a little bit different that the others.

That’s how excited I was (and still am).

I won my very first giveaway!!! (Well, truth be told, it’s the second one, but the first one I got ended up into Italian customs and so I had to send back the package! :/) It took me days to have the actual time to sit, make some decent photos and write about it!

The stunning and super talented Nicole hosted this giveaway for her one year blog anniversary! The prizes are show down here and this is the official post that announced the giveaway. 😀

Here’s what I got into the perfectly wrapped bubble plastic:
Sleek palette iDivine Storm
Ardell fake lashes in #123
MAC lipstick in Ruby Woo

giveaway

When she emailed me saying that I won, I just couldn’t believe it! And she was so nice when I explained her that I couldn’t receive parcels here in Italy because of customs! She agreed on mailing everything with regular service and, thankfully, nobody opened the envelope and I got everything in perfect shape!

My controlled excitement when getting the parcel, or people would call the cops 😛

I still can’t believe I now own a MAC lipstick and, honestly, it’s so good to finally strike it from my wish list! He’s been staying there since ages, haha! 😛 I still haven’t swatched the lipstick because I wanted to immortalize its perfect shape, but I will surely wear it soon, so keep an eye on the blog and on Instagram as well! 😉
Super excited for the Sleek palette, as well. It’s my very first eye Sleek palette and I’m already in love with the blushes I showed you here, so..it won’t be disappointing, I know! The colors are a little bit darker that the ones I usually wear, but this palette comes in handy just because of that! Whenever I want to do a deeper smokey eye I always have to give up because I don’t have really dark shades! And now..now I do, yeeee! 😀 I love that it has stunning shimmery colors as well as matte ones! Definitely a keeper.
I’m super glad about the Ardell lashes as well. They really look great, slim and natural as I like them! Can’t wait to test them on!!!

& that is all, ladies!

I just want to thank again miss Nicole for being so generous and, again, happy anniversary, dear!

A kiss for you, hon!

Everybody should really go and check her blog out, it’s definitely worth following her!!!! She’s the queen of blending, to me! He makeup is so flawless and super original!
Oh, and follow her on her socials too! (Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook)

Talk to you all, soon, girls.
Stay beautiful.

ps. I have the TOEFL exam on Saturday, guys. Please, keep me in your prayers. I really need any little amount of luck you can give me! :*

I am back!!! Whoop whoop!

August 3, 2013 § 2 Comments

Greetings, sweeties!!!!
I am back home, finally!!! It so great to finally be able to sleep in my comfortable bed and not having to share bathroom with people, haha! 😛

eeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! 😀

I’ve missed you all, even if I still got the chance to comment (Internet happened to be available actually!) now and then on your lovely blogs. Despite the fact that I needed a break from blogging, I have to admit I missed writing on this sweet corner of the web! 😉

As you know, I’ve been MIA because of the TOEFL program I attended in the month of July.
I got back home last night after four long, challenging and basically life-changing weeks. I can’t believe July is actually over and that, now, future starts getting real and closer. I am going to have a super busy Fall because of PhD applications and exams and..it feels really weird being this close to my dream. Let’s keep fingers crossed!!!

YEAH. Be strong.

The English programme went extremely good. I got the chance of improving my reading and writing abilities (hopefully my written English will be better from today on – can’t promise anything, though :P) and, most of all, I managed to speak a lot of English with actual American gals and -not to brag- I think my pronunciation really is better than before. Everything thanks to my awesome English teacher Dean and the 25 Detroit college students who lived by my side for 30 days. I learned so much from their culture and I was pleasantly surprised how nice everyone was. That’s surely the thing that impressed me the most. I will forever have a place for all of them in my heart! It really was an enriching experience from every points of view!

to sum up what I could say about this experience

I’ll try not to get emotional, but I definitely have to admit that saying goodbye to everybody, yesterday night, was one of the most bittersweet feeling ever. So sad to see them leave Italy. I regret not having spent enough time with them. I wish we had some more weeks to keep knowing each other, but..well, what can we do?! Thank God for Skype and Facebook!

If you Detroit kids are reading this, I hug you super tight and I miss you all already! Good luck with your dreams! ❤

Love you all!

I had some time to write my thesis, but not as much as I wanted. I guess August will be the month of catching up with my schedule, but, most of all, I should start planning the exams I have to take this Fall and list the universities to apply to. So much to do! I am feeling super excited that my dream is so near that I can almost grab it, but so scared about the amount of stuff I have to do in the next months!!! *sigh*

when I think about to what I still have to go through to be actually finished

I should be back on schedule with blog posts starting next week, hopefully. I have so much stuff to review that my “blog” folder is going to explode! 😛

& that’s the end of the post. I just wanted to update you all on my “life” and let you know that I am alive!!! 😀 Now, while listening to Spice Girls (don’t ask :P), I really should go and unpack my stuff and clean this mess around me!
Talk to you all very soon!

Stay beautiful.

Semi-Hiatus: July plans & updates!

July 4, 2013 § 8 Comments

Hello, ladies!

I’m posting this entry now, but know that I’m writing it down on a Tuesday evening. I’m talking to the future right now, haha! 😛 By this time, I’ll be about 60km away from home, safe and sound, hopefully.

Anyway, as I was saying on Monday I would have updated you with my July plans.

Thankfully, I got into the TOEFL study program at my university and so I’m staying away in a little town near where I live for four entire weeks. In the company of 19 Italian students that I don’t know and 25 American students from Detroit, which, again, I don’t know at all. :3 Kind of nervous, here. It should be fun, though. Or, at least, that’s what I hope for. 😉

I still don’t know if I’ll come back home on the weekends or if (oh no!) I’ll have the Internet there (from what they are saying, it should be, but..I tend to not trust people about wi-fi, haha).
In any case, I won’t be able to write any reviews and I feel like a need some weeks off my blog just to rest my mind (that’s an euphemism since I’m away to throw myself into English studies :P) a little bit. I still have some products I’ve used this Spring that I want to talk about (like the Chanel lipstick I got for Christmas!) and I’ll sure will in August when I’ll be back on schedule.

For now, I think I’ll let my hiatus begin. I hate that word, especially if it concerns TV shows, haha! 😛
Well, let’s call it a SEMI-HIATUS since I don’t know what my mind will do and I may post something anyway even if not on schedule.

Anders approves – GIF from the holy ground of Tumblr

I really hope you understand, girls! 😉
Hopefully I’ll still be able to check your blogs from time to time. I desperately hope that they are right and that there’s actually free wi-fi where I’m going, but I really doubt it! 😦
Being internet-less, anyway, won’t hurt too much (I’m trying to convince myself of this thing :P). After all, I’m in that program to study and to improve my English! 😛 I just..don’t want to be isolated from the rest of the world, haha!

Take care, girls and enjoy this month!
Feel free to spam this post with your updates so when I come back I’ll easier catch up! ❤
I send you all a big box of kisses and hugs!

Friday talk!

June 21, 2013 § 2 Comments

Hello sweeties.

These have been rough days. Exams, personal situations that really got under my skin, plans on my July/August schedule. Fun stuff? Not at all.

Oh, and add that my sister got into a car accident (nothing serious, thank God) and my dad’s car wouldn’t want to start. I think karma is trying to saying something to me. 😛

On Wednesday I had that exam I talked about, luckily it went great. Now I’m one down, two more to go. The next one will be July 1, if everything goes right. I’ll leave the second to September. I could have taken this one too, but there’s the chance (fingers crossed) that I get into the TOEFL program of my university to spend the entire July month (I’m leaving on the 4th and the course ends August 2nd) away of town to attend classes and master my English.

I still don’t know if I’m posting (maybe I’ll write posts in advance) or not, simply because studying for the next exam, working on my thesis and looking for good abroad universities don’t leave me much free time. But we’ll see how things go, just know that my posting schedule might change. 😦

Anyway, yesterday, after the test I took to enter in the TOEFL program, I decided that some shopping wouldn’t be bad – I had to repurchase some cleanser and moisturizer I’m running out of. So, I went to OVS and I got everything I needed (big victory to me, since the counter is always empty when I go!), but I wanted to “splurge” a little bit on new stuff. Sadly, nothing got my attention aside from the loose matt powder which I ended up not buying because I still have tons of powders to finish and milky shaded nail polishes, which again, I didn’t buy simply because they were a little glittered. But, but. I was paying for the three things I bought (a cleanser, my loved makeup remover and a moisturizer) that I noticed a new collection (“Guerilla Gardening” – very very pretty, I’d say) and a red blush. Yes, you read right. A red blush.

Now, you have to understand that I’ve been having a crush on red toned blushes since I discovered LillianMasie (my opinion’s here) last June. She always look gorgeous, but when she wears NARS Exhibit A she really makes me want to go and buy a red blush.
You could imagine how happy I was when I finally found it! It was a cream one so, perfect for summer, right?! Well, I guess it wasn’t my luckiest moment since I noticed a nice twirl of fingers on it. They have tested it and it was the only one left. Big no, and I left it there with a half of my heart.

I guess I’ll have to cave in and place an order of red blushes on Maquillalia.com as I wanted to do for months! 😛
I’ll let you know when I do, but I’m afraid it’ll be in August or September. I’ll totally need your help picking other products! 😀

The real victory of yesterday’s shopping (?) was finding the Blackcurrant Twinings Tea I’ve been looking for since this Winter, ahah! 😛 Since I didn’t find nothing interesting makeup wise, I definitely comforted my stress with infinite amount of junk food (oh no!)! 😛

& that’s it. This was just a chatty post sorry for the missing entry yesterday – I had no time (nor focus) to plan a review!
Talk to you all soon.

Stay beautiful.
